General Motors– Fuel Efficient car for Europe

The price of gas is the main issue. This factor has forced the auto makers to create, innovate and introduce fuel efficient cars, car parts and accessories. Europe has been hard hit with the rising fuel prices where per gallon cost of gasoline is around US$6.00 as against United States where the price of gasoline stands at US$2.5 per gallon.

The high price of fossil fuel necessitated the production of fuel efficient small cars for the European market. General Motors too, took the initiative to introduce its Opel Corsa OPC. The car was presented at the 77th Geneva International Motor Show this year.

About the car’s engine and other car parts

The car is equipped with 1.6 liter turbo engine that boosts 192 hp. The car picks up its speed with the help of 6 speed manual transmission that puts power in the car’s front wheels.

Company’s expectations

The company, as stated by the company’s official has no intentions of offering the car for sale in the US. The main reason being the cost of fuel, which is tremendously high in Europe.
